A video that was uploaded on LiveLeak revealed a Finnish golfer savagely decapitating a goose on the golf course. The golfer could be seen in the seven-second video lining up his club with the goose’s head. As he takes a full swing and savagely slices the head off, you can hear his friend, who is recording, laughing in the background.
This clip has since sparked outrage and an investigation has ensued.
This incident occurred in a ‘top class golf club’ in Finland.
Just last year, a 74-year-old man was fined 11,000 dollars and given a 30 day suspended sentence for hitting a goose with his golf club and then killing it by running it over with a golf cart.
The man, Uwe Dettmar, claimed that he killed the rare bird in order to protect his wife who was afraid of geese.
But in Finland, an unknown man was recorded brutally killing a Barnacle goose. Within hours of that video being uploaded, the Vantaa Golf Park, Helsinki, launched an investigation.
The managing director of the Vantaa Golf Park, Ville Nurmi, said: ‘we condemn the case completely’ and has also stated that they have filed a report with the police.
It has been reported that the animal killer is not a member of the golf club but could be prosecuted if he is found. The video has since been shared on social media in hopes of finding the killer.
The executive director of the Finnish Golf Association said: ‘it is impossible to understand. Such behavior is in complete contravention of all the values and principles on which the golf game is built.’
He finished off by saying: ‘we hope that the police will find out the identity of the person and that he will be punished according to his actions.’
The bird is said to be a Barnacle Goose which is found nesting around northern parts of the United Kingdom.
